These intricate monoprints by Maggie Nowinski are made using photopolymer intaglio technique on Rives BFK and Hahnemühle Copperplate papers.
As monoprints, although there may be multiples pulled from the same plate, each one is uniquely inked (unless part of an edition). Nowinski is a member of Zea Mays Printmaking in Florence, Mass., but she does not have a background in printmaking, and her approach to the medium is unorthodox. It is important to her that each print contain a different tonal and hue range, so that no two prints are identical. All imagery is based on Nowinski’s drawing practice.
